Concert With a Cause

September is a super awesome month.  For starters it’s got my dad’s birthday in in which automatically gives it a cool factor.  It also includes a 3 day weekend for many of us who will thoroughly enjoy it and look forward to this knowledge each year.  It’s also got some awesome stuff in store when it comes to Elevation. Kingdom Come cd release AND on September 21, Pastor Steven’s book Sun Stand Still comes out!  I still remember the first go-round we had when Sun Stand Still was a sermon series a couple years ago and the message is still so powerful – check out the story in the Bible it’s based on in Joshua 10.

This weekend as a part of the worship experience they’re doing a “Concert with a Cause” to celebrate the release of the new Elevation Worship cd Kingdom Come.  It’s out September 7 on iTunes and the like, but Elevators are getting dibs a couple days early.  They’re focusing on calling it a Concert with a Cause due to the fact that 12% of the offering this weekend will go to one of Samaritan’s Purse’s partners, Turn on the Tap, to help give families clean water filtration systems and ALL proceeds on Tuesday (cd release day!) will go to Turn on the Tap.  As if that weren’t awesome enough, the church wanted to not only make us aware of where $ was going on Tuesday, they lead and be generous to it’s people by giving away ALL of the cds this weekend to those who attend.  Why? To lead in being generous so that we could follow, knowing God’s house is the best place to give, be generous and know you’re making an eternal difference.

They actually did similar things with the last 2 cds.  For We Are Alive they gave all the release day proceeds to our worship pastor (Wade Joye) and his family to  help with medical bills since their twin girls were born 3 months early.  For God With Us all the proceeds went to the outreach partners here in Charlotte.  I love the outward focus the church has toward the big initiatives – that it isn’t about us, keeping ourselves happy, but giving of ourselves to others for His purpose.  The Kingdom Come sermon series wasn’t about where we were then, but reaching OUT to another location in Charlotte to build another campus to REACH those in that area.  Love Week in February was about serving our community (over 10,551 hours serve in ONE week).  All cd release day proceeds given away.  Being a part of the One Prayer worldwide series for three years.  All of the eGroups serving each and every week together at various locations in the city through our outreach partners.

It’s a great cd.  I highly recommend it.  I’ve actually had it a couple of weeks now.  Wade, Chris, Mack, London…  Each of you are so incredibly talented and gifted.  Thank you for putting these words together for us and for others out there who will hear it.  Our church is so blessed to have you lead us into His presence.

They sang this song entitled “The Church” toward the end tonight and I couldn’t be more happy, honored, blessed or proud to be part of a church like Elevation.  I love the words to this song and am glad to know in my heart that Elevation is doing all it can to fulfill the mission and vision of the church – to be the change the world so desperately needs and offer it hope.

(Side note: I could probably say at any old time that my favorite song on the new cd changes hourly depending on where I am, what I’m up to…  But that’s a good thing.  It means I connect to what it’s saying.  Thanks again, Wade, Chris, Mack and London!)

The Church

We are the change

the world is waiting for

We’ve got a love

the world is desperate for

We will lead

and take to Your streets

Now’s the time for us to rise

and carry hope and let love shine

And show this world that mercy is alive

Now’s the time for us to rise

and carry hope to hopeless eyes

And show this world that mercy is alive

We’re not afraid

We will abandon all to hear Your name

on lips across the world

We will run in the wake of Your love

Now’s the time for us to rise

and carry hope to and let love shine

and show this world that mercy is alive

Now’s the time for us to rise

and carry hope to hopeless eyes

and show this world that mercy is alive

Fill our hearts with Your compassion

Let our love be active here

Fill our hearts with Your compassion

Let our love be real

Now’s the time for us to rise

and carry hope and let love shine

and show this world that mercy is alive

Now’s the time for us to rise

and carry hope to hopeless eyes

and show this world that mercy is alive

We will go where You tell us to go

We will speak at Your very word

We will move when You tell us to move

We are Yours

We are Yours
